Listen to someone who's been there!

For those of us who are in LOVE with the music and entertainment culture, especially songs from the 60’s through the 80’s for starters, Jim Peterik is someone who has seen it all, and has the ultimate story of experiences. The band Survivor is not only one of those eponymous 80’s groups that have touched the lives and hearts and emotions of people all over the world, but it is also a band that Jim started. This Berwyn, Illinois native has many many stories to marvel over, and you can listen to some of them as only Mr. Peterik can tell them, on his special feature interview show Talk Of The Tiger. We are happy to present this particularly unique and important episode titled ‘Playing Out!’ where Jim talks about his band Ides Of March ( famous for the song “Vehicle” ) show at Chicago Street Theatre in Valparaiso, IN. Sapphire Sun

Sapphire Sun, a Chicago-based band with a majestic, talented and notable lineup, recently released their new album Dreamboat To Nowhere. Singer Brendan Maier, well-known and rightly-recognized for his spot-on vocals impressively respectful and reminiscent of Layne Stanley of Alice in Chains, pulls off a new hit-record of songs that are sure to bring a lot of fans and followers in-tow.
Songs like Sympathy, Moon Glow, and Treasure cover a lot of special ground. Plight Club and Side With The Rain showcase just how much this band connects with sonic-emotives and songwriting style. They are definitely purists, and have a lot of love for what they create. You will too. This is what we call an actual album. And it’s best served in full-listen. It’s one of those records you will be able to listen to over and over again, and it’s been a long-time coming. It will play an important part in your new collection of favorites.
Guitarist Ken Becker, a real-deal guitarist with a range of musical expressions that you just want to hear more of, has been playing in the scene for a very long and respectable time and is definitely someone to follow. Along with drummer Nick Shabatura and his true-to-form drumming, Sapphire Sun are breathing new life into a style of songs and music that took hold of the rock and 90’s music culture with strong reverence.
Legend has it that Brendan Maier can recreate Layne Stanley’s vocals so well that he has even met Layne’s mother, who was equally impressed and complimented Brendan for honoring his capture of one of music’s most closely held and unique vocalists. It’s worth mentioning that Brendan also hails from the Washington area, birthplace of the Alice In Chains phenomenon that remains, to the day, one of the most beloved bands in music and rock history.
Ken Becker is what we would call the ultimate. This man can play it all, but even more impressive is how he creates so many luxurious hooks and rhythms. Ken is one of the best out there, and we are so excited to keep seeing him paint the sky with his magic. When it comes to guitarists, we consider Ken one of the best there is on the original music scene. He is absolutely a master song-developer and it is so refreshing that he can produce so much music on so many levels. His intuitive guitar artistry has been heard by untold groups of people throughout Chicagoland over the years, from the bands he pours his powerful and romantic notions into, to the stead-fast passion he has for music as a landscape of vast delights. It’s not enough to wax-poetic about Ken. The best way to understand how he represents and nourishes the renaissance of expectation for this new era of original music is best served by soaking into his album. We definitely suggest this as a full-album purchase. These guys did an excellent job creating songs, many, with sultry blends of vocals, Nick’s intuitive and sage drumming expressions, and Ken’s supremely refreshing phrasings.
